Why Bikram Yoga?

1) Discipline
2) Challenge
3) Efficiency

My first Bikram Yoga instructor, Clyde Washington, really set my practice and influenced the way I teach. He spoke perfect dialogue, word by word, never preached any philosophy. I found the dialogue comforting, not judgmental. When he practiced with us, he would only move according to instructions.  I learned from watching him when practicing together.

From Bikram yoga, I learned MIND is not easy to discipline as  to our body. The challenge rises every day, physically or mentally. The hardest thing about the practice is not “pushing beyond my flexibility”, but to stand back and watch the rest of classes when nursing an injury. A few seconds felt like a life time and mind went crazy. I realize the only thing hurt in those seconds was ego.

The style of Bikram Yoga is simple, not flowery or Zen words, direct to the point which serves my ex-working life style well, or my personality. Some students fear me, but I teach in a way that I believe students can explore their max potential by trying the right way.

The best teaching of Bikram yoga is no short cut. Sometimes, when a choice was taken out of the equation, things became simple and clear. Regardless what my physical or mental condition is that day, I learn to let go whenever I step into the room, whether to teach or practice.
